
McDonalds (NYSE: MCD) takes the number one spot in the IT blunders, (but #3 in Dumbest Moments in Business.) They gave away 10,000 Mickey D’s branded MP3 players that were preloaded with songs. In some cases, McD's gave customers a bonus installation of QQPass Trojan viruses that copied User IDs, Passwords, and other data that was then passed along to hackers. Nice! Comcast Support is Asleep on the Job: A tech falls asleep at a customer’s house while waiting for Comcast support to come on the line to assist. (He had been waiting on hold for more than an hour.) Comcast took 10th place. See the YouTube video. The video is testimony to the lack of attention Comcast is giving to customer service, support, and for screening their job candidates.
A helpful tip from the US Customer Product Safety Commission makes the 13th Dumbest Moment of the year saying in not so many words, that you should not use your laptop in your lap. Brilliant!
#25 BBC invited IT expert Guy Kewney to their show for a live television interview. Karen Bowerman, BBCcorrespondent, finds herself talking to a Guy Goma who had been waiting in the lobby waiting for a job interview. After what Goma went through, I think he should have gotten the job! Here is the YouTube video.
