The ITIL Critic wrote an interesting article about making the case for ITIL:
Make sure your business case...
Takes away pain or fear.
Deliver on key people's personal agendas.
Radical transformation because she is new to the job and wants to be seen to have made a difference?
Align with key business initiatives.
Measure the business case in terms of the initiative's deliverables.
Use the right buzz-speak.
I thought these were some very interesting suggestions on how to make Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) more palatable. I haven't been able to talk much about ITIL, because it hasn't been that important to us. We do a great job how we are, and we continue to move forward with new business unit projects that take most of our time and more than all of our resources. Still, I found making the case for ITIL to be worth the read, though I think one point was missed:
MONEY!
f you can make ITIL make financial sense for your organization, either by saving a lot of money by eliminating redundant processes or needless outages or by creating money by reducing headcount or however, you can make ITIL work.

The Information Technology Process Institute (ITPI) and consulting firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers released studies into IT controls performance and IT governance.
CIO Magazine interviewed Dwayne Melancon, ITPI research fellow, and Steve Woolley, partner of the Pricewaterhouse Coopers advisory and technology practice, about the results and discussed how a CIO can turn IT controls into business productivity.
